This event will look at mediating financial complaints. Austin Kenny will explain the mediation process, the characteristics and benefits of mediation and in particular how it can provide real value to the banking sector in reducing dispute resolution costs as well as minimising complaints against banks. Ger Deering will then focus on the reluctance that the Financial Services and Pensions Ombudsman (FSPO) has experienced on the part of financial service providers to engage in mediation, how these reservations have been overcome and how the FSPO has secured meaningful engagement from the banks into the dispute resolution process. He will also discuss the benefits this has brought for financial service providers, their customers and the Financial Services and Pensions Ombudsman.

1 CPD hour for QFA, APA, Grandfathers, Registered Stockbroker, MCI, LCOI, FCOI (Compliance) and PIP.
