With effect from 1 January 2025, the Minimum Competency Code 2017 (MCC), has been updated to include competencies relating to sustainability generally for all retail financial products (including insurance products).
Join IOB and Katie Philpott, Policy Manager (Consumer Policy & Research Division, Central Bank of Ireland), for an overview of the changes to MCC that financial services professionals should be aware of.

Katie has over three decades of experience in the Central Bank of Ireland, working in a wide-range of roles, and gaining valuable knowledge and expertise of Irish and European financial services along the way.
After ten years in Media Relations, Katie moved to the Consumer Policy & Research Division at the end of 2021. This Division is responsible for the development of consumer policy, underpinning the Central Bank’s policy work with evidence based consumer research.
Katie is currently a Policy Manager in the Cross-Sectoral Policy Function, which is also responsible for the Minimum Competency Standards. In this role Katie has overseen the introduction of changes to the Standards, not only for the credit union sector but also for retail credit servicing firms and recent changes to recognise sustainability knowledge and competence for Continuing Professional Development (CPD).
Katie holds a Diploma in Compliance from the Compliance Institute, a BA in Financial Services from Institute of Bankers/University College Dublin and a MBA in Financial Services from the Institute of Bankers/Manchester Business School
