IOB is proud to support many international members who are studying our UCD accredited programmes. We aim to provide a supportive environment for all students, and hope that the information on this page will provide guidance on essential information as you commence your academic journey, whilst studying part-time living in Ireland or overseas.

IOB International Student Handbook

IOB's community of over 32,900 members includes many international students who are located in Ireland and overseas. To help support our new international members, who are also new to the wider Irish community, we would like to introduce you to our International Student Handbook. It contains information which we hope you will find useful in adjusting to life as an international student and progressing successfully with your studies.

English Language Requirements

Teaching in IOB is through the medium of English; therefore, applicants must demonstrate a high level of competence in the English language to be admitted to study. Students whose native language is not English are required to demonstrate their proficiency in the language and must provide verifiable evidence of that proficiency. Further information on these requirements is provided in the *English Language Policy.

*A revised version of the English Language Policy will be available here very soon.

Programme Withdrawl Policy

IOB recognises that for a variety of reasons a student may need to withdraw from their programme and from being a member of IOB. It further recognises that in some cases a student may, at a later date, apply for re-admission to the programme. This policy/procedure document is intended to:

  • Provide students who are thinking of withdrawing from their studies with important information about what it means to withdraw, including where they can seek further support and advice.

  • Support students and staff by clarifying the procedures for programme withdrawal and applying for re- admission.
