IOB community mourns the loss of Eimear McBride

Eimear McBride

We are deeply saddened to share the news of the passing of our dear friend and colleague Eimear McBride, on February 24, 2024.

It’s impossible to sum up the impact that Eimear had throughout her 16 year career with IOB. She took great pride in sharing that her journey with IOB began as an Intra student, before leading change with roles in education, e-learning and digital.

As Chief Sustainability and Communications Officer with IOB, Eimear was a vibrant and committed leader that believed in the power of education. She brought a passion for diversity and inclusion and a drive for innovation to every facet of her work.

Eimear developed and delivered programmes in digital and sustainable finance that have become cornerstones of IOB’s education portfolio and recognised across the financial services sector. She worked closely with industry to understand current and future skill needs and develop education programmes that enabled individuals and organisations to achieve their ambitions.

She maintained a lifelong commitment to professional development, achieving a Master’s degree in Education and a Bachelor’s Degree in Business/Commerce from DCU. She had just recently began studying a new course with Oxford University.

Eimear was full of warmth and fun. She loved Dublin GAA, the arts and socialising with friends. She travelled far and wide and brought great stories home with her. In every aspect of her life, she fearlessly challenged the status quo and worked to make her community and the world a better place.

Our thoughts are with Eimear’s family and vast community of friends at this difficult time.

We feel lucky that IOB was a part of Eimear’s life, and Eimear will always be part of IOB. Go well Eimear, we will miss you greatly.

As a mark of respect, IOB’s offices will be closed on Friday, 1 March 2024.
