A New Era in Mental Health: How Technology Can Enable Care and Treatment.

IOB in partnership with BlockW bring IOB members this event with Orla Gogarty, MScOT, MBA who is Director of Digital Health, Transformation and Partnerships at St Patricks’ Mental Health Services.

BlockW is a female led NGO whose mission is to make emerging technologies more inclusive. BlockW creates awareness of the range, use and applications of emerging technologies by:

1. Increasing access, diversity, inclusivity and sustainability in the use and uptake of emerging technologies

2. Highlighting access and pathways to education, training and upskilling

3. Encouraging, facilitating and participating in research

4. Informing and influencing Government policy

This event will provide an overview of the digital transformation journey of St Patrick’s Mental Health Services over the past 6 years, and the strategic role enabling technology has played in creating new and innovative models of mental health care including Home, Remote and Hybrid care.

Orla will describe a number of digital resources and tools which were selected, deployed and are supported to allow clinicians to provide and service users to access mental health care to and from anywhere.

Orla Gogarty, MScOT, MBA is Director of Digital Health, Transformation and Partnerships at St Patricks’ Mental Health Services.

Drawing on over 35 years of clinical, management and academic experience in the NHS, Medicare Canada, the HSE, TCD and the not-for-profit sector, Orla has a proven track record in leading strategic technology, transformational and data projects including Ireland’s first integrated electronic mental health record and Patient Portal and more recently the integration of remote mental health service pathways at scale.

Orla collaborates with a number of European and national forums to support Innovation, Professional Training and Smart practice in Mental Health.

Founding President of the National College of Ireland ( NCI ), leading academic and researcher

Professor Joyce O’Connor will moderate the event. A global Eisenhower Fellow Professor, O’Connor is the Founding President of the National College of Ireland ( NCI ), recognised as a leading academic and researcher who has championed access to education.

Recognising the importance of early learning she established the Early Learning Initiative in NCI 2005.

A Chair and Board member of a wide range of organisations, businesses and Government agencies, she Chaired “A Vision for Change “ which helped redefine Government Policy in the Mental Health area.
