Deloitte Global Blockchain CTO and Head of the Deloitte EMEA Blockchain Lab

Antonio is a Chief Technology officer, with expertise around Blockchain, Big Data, Analytics, Cloud and Innovation.

He is a Director in the Deloitte business and holds the role of Deloitte Global Blockchain CTO and Head of the Deloitte EMEA Blockchain Lab. Antonio leads a team of around 20 technology practitioners in Ireland (30 at its peak) and a number of globally located resources from different delivery centres, with peaks of 50 resources between Dublin and delivery centres.

Antonio is in charge of the global Deloitte technology roadmap and vision in the blockchain space, evaluating vendors, protocols, setting up capabilities and partnerships.

Antonio sits on the Board of Advisors of the VeChain foundation.

He is the former Deloitte Big Data capabilities lead in Ireland (from 2012 to 2016) andfounded and led the Deloitte EMEA Big Data Community of practice, a network of Big Data practitioners based in Europe and Middle East.

Antonio delivered the first commercial Big Data cluster for Deloitte globally which led to the set-up the Deloitte-Cloudera partnership. He also delivered the first live Blockchain project for Deloitte, with DNV GL.

Antonio delivered multiple large-scale projects with teams internationally located, looking after estimation, architecture, delivery, budgeting and QA.

His areas of expertise are: Big Data, Analytics, Enterprise Architecture, Blockchain, Applied Cryptography, Security, Cloud Computing, Data Architecture, Enterprise Integration, Microservices design, Scrum and Agile software development methodologies.

Antonio is a Cloudera Certified Administrator for Apache Hadoop (CCAH), a Certified Scrum master and a Certified AWS Cloud practitioner.

He has over 19 years of experience in the IT industry, 16 in consulting and almost 4 in technology start-ups.

Antonio worked for Accenture Spa Italy, Deutsche Bank, Newbay Software Ltd Ireland and Mobile Aware Software Ltd Ireland.

Sandra Sweeney

Sandra is a Director and EdQ Business Owner at IOB

IOB is a professional network of 33,600 members who work in the banking and international financial services sector. IOB is a recognised college of University College Dublin (UCD) and is a centre of excellence in the provision of specialist education and lifelong learning to the financial services sector with programmes for members at every stage of their career. A total of 8,300 people studied with IOB last year.  

Sandra has worked in IOB for over 20 years in a number of roles, most recently as Director of Lifelong Learning. In this role, Sandra and her team managed the largest continuing professional development community in Ireland with almost 24,000 registered members committed to lifelong learning.

Sandra stepped out of this role in January 2020 to act as Business Owner for the Institute’s innovative blockchain learning credentialling platform called EdQ which has been developed in partnership with Deloitte. Phase one of the EdQ platform was launched in February 2021 providing a Corporate Reporting portal for corporates of IOB.  Sandra has recently been appointed Chief Risk & Compliance Officer at IOB.

Prior to joining the Institute, Sandra worked for eight years in education management with Dublin Business School. Sandra is a qualified certified accountant.

Brian Coleman

Brian is Learning Operations Manager at Bank of Ireland

He has over 30 years-experience in the financial services industry in Ireland with a results-driven focus and success leading a learning operations team. Brian manages the learning budget, day-to day-contracted services from an outsourced learning provider and delivery of multiple projects. 

One of the primary areas Brian has worked on was the introduction across the organisation of the Central Bank’s Minimum Competency Requirements (MCR) working closely with IOB on this and thesubsequent Minimum Competency Code (MCC).

With over 2,700 Qualified Financial Advisers (QFA designated colleagues) across the organisation and a significant number ofcolleagues having attained Accredited Product Adviser (APA) on their journey to attain QFA, supporting colleagues in attaining their qualifications and completing their CPD is an ongoing activity that Brian and his team work closely with IOB in providing.

Brian is Fellow of IOB, Chartered Member of Chartered Institute of Personnel Development and holds an MSc Human Resource Management from Sheffield Business School - Hallam University.

Frances Mallon

Subject Matter Expert (SME) on the Central Bank of Ireland's Minimum Competency Code (MCC) for UBI DAC.

Frances has worked with Ulster Bank Ireland DAC since 2006. Frances is the Subject Matter Expert (SME) on the Central Bank of Ireland's Minimum Competency Code (MCC) for UBI DAC.  Her primary responsibility is monitoring and oversight of the UBI DAC MCC Register, and assisting staff with all compliance issues, ensuring UBI DAC’s compliance with the regulatory requirements of the MCC. 

Currently her role is Lead Operations and Support Consultant with UB Leadership, Talent and Capability. Frances ensures all learner experiences, such as course offerings are managed smoothly and seamlessly in particular, stakeholder engagement between UB Academy, Learning Services and the various Professional Educational bodies such as IOB.

Frances has collaborated with IOB on the EdQ blockchain project particularly on the end user experience, in order to assist with the management of regulatory compliance.  She will continue to collaborate in the next phase of the development plan for EdQ, where UBI DAC staff will be able to access their education credentials and share as necessary with a wider audience.

Anthony has worked on technology implementation projects since 1998 covering a range of industries including Manufacturing, Aerospace & Defence, Transport and Logistics.

Since 2009, he has focused on HR technology transformations in Ireland, UK and mainland Europe.

His interest in HR technologies led him to join AIB in 2018 as the bank’s HR Systems Manager and subsequently to provide his insights to IOB’s EdQ learning credentialling project which is based on blockchain technology.
