Our speaker, Karena Duane, will walk attendees through 5 key considerations:
1. Why Should You Care About Pensions at the start of your career?
Karena will explore the importance of early pension saving, compound interest, and dispel the myth that pensions are only for older workers.
2. How Much Should I Save—and When Should I Start?
Attendees will be provided with practical guidance on contribution levels, employer pension schemes, and the long-term benefits of starting early.
3. What Happens If I Change Jobs? Karena will discuss portability of pensions and consolidation.
4. Is It All About Money? Understanding Pension Investment Choices
We will look at how pensions are invested, risk profiles, sustainable/ethical investing, and what choices employees actually have.
5. Common Pension Pitfalls for Young Workers—and How to Avoid Them
Karena will review common mistakes such as opting out, missing employer matches, misunderstanding auto-enrolment, and the importance of reviewing statements.
