In-person networking event for Alumni of the Professional Certificate in Designated Persons programme.

The event will provide you with an opportunity to meet with your classmates and lecturers from the programme.

A discussion between Richard Wane and Eve Finn will provide tips for Designated Persons and those supporting DPs, in relation to the performance of their roles. An experienced panel of industry professionals will then discuss Fund Distribution, led by Fiona Coughlan with Annette Stack and Lorcan Murphy.

There is 1 CPD hour for the following designations:

  • CIFD

  • FCI

  • AFP

Fiona Coughlan

Fiona Coughlan has worked in Financial Services for 25 years and has a Certified Investment Fund Director designation.

Fiona graduated from Trinity College Dublin in 1999 with a BA in Economics & Social Studies. She began her career at Merrill Lynch in Dublin, working as part of a derivatives Client Services team, before moving to work for Merrill Lynch in London in 2003. From 2004 to 2011, she worked for Deutsche Bank London within their Global Transaction Banking division in roles ranging from client services through to product management.

Her most recent role was with Comgest Asset Management International Limited where she was the Head of Operations (PCF-42) and a member of the Executive Management team. Fiona was the Chair of the Irish Funds Middle Office Working Group until March 2024, having previously been a member of its Head of Operations Working Group.

Fiona also delivers training on Fund Distribution related topics for the IOB.

Richard Wane

Consultant

Over a 30 year career Richard held a variety of leadership roles across legal, compliance and business areas, principally at The Vanguard Group (2008-2021) and Fidelity International (1996-2008).

Richard qualified a Solicitor (England & Wales) in 1991 and has a BA (Jt Hons) in Law and Politics from Durham University.

Richard held several positions requiring regulatory approval in the UK, Hong Kong, Singapore and Ireland, most recently as Chief Executive Officer of Vanguard’s Dublin office. He has also served as a Director on a number of company boards.

Richard believes it is important that Ireland should have a professional educational qualification to reflect the significant responsibilities of the Designated Person/PCF roles.

Annette Stack

Non-executive Director

Annette is a non-executive director with in excess of 30 years’ experience in the asset management and investment funds’ industry operating at managerial, executive and director level. Annette has held leadership roles at investor services firms and at a Super ManCo. She has a track record for developing and growing successful investment businesses, she led the client relationship and business development strategies for a number of companies.

Annette was General Manager and Head of Depositary at RBC Dexia Investor Services Dublin Branch. She developed the UCITS oversight and governance framework at Davy Global Fund Management where she was PCF 39 for Distribution. Annette established and managed a successful UCITS hosted fund platform. She has extensive experience advising global investment managers on structuring, establishing, and best practice operations for UCITS and Alternative Investment Funds ("AIFs").

Annette is a Certified Investment Fund Director. She has a Bachelor of Commerce degree from University College Cork.

Eve Finn

Independent Non-Executive Director

Eve Finn is an Independent Non-Executive Director on various asset management, fund company, pension scheme and not-for-profit boards. She has over 20 years executive experience in financial servicesacross asset management, investment banking and investment consulting.

Most recently, Eve was CEO, Executive Director and Ireland Country Head of LGIM Managers (Europe) Limited, LGIM’s European fund management company based in Ireland. She served as a Director on a number of LGIM’s Irish and Luxembourg based UCITS Funds and AIFs. Prior to that, Eve also held senior leadership roles in LGIM’s Investment division in London, including as Head of Solutions and Head of LDI Portfolio Construction, serving on various committees and boards in the UK. Eve also had roles in Deutsche Bank and Watson Wyatt LLP (now Willis Towers Watson) in the UK and is a Fellow of the Institute of Actuaries.

Eve is an active industry participant, having served on Irish Funds’ Council, Vice-chair of the Irish Funds Asset Management Steering Group and was a former member of the IFSC Funds Group. She is also a director of basis.point - the Irish investment fund industry charity focused on improving educational opportunities for children who face disadvantage.

Lorcan Murphy

Independent non-executive director

Lorcan Murphy, an Irish resident, is an independent non-executive director and marketing and distribution professional. Lorcan has 30 years knowledge of global mutual funds, spanning operational management, risk management, compliance, product development and asset gathering. Currently he is a director and chair of several Irish UCITS funds.

Lorcan works with ACOLIN Fund services out of Zurich, and previously he was Head of Private Wealth Europe within Barclays Global Investors. Mr. Murphy is a qualified Chartered Accountant (ICAI) and has a Bachelor of Business Science degree (Economics major) from Trinity College Dublin.
