The Central Bank of Ireland issued a number of dear Chair letters on the topic of liquidity risk management in funds.

Two letters issued in 2021, both requiring action by all Investment Fund Management Companies, by end 2021. In this session hear from industry experts who have addressed the issues identified in the Central Bank letters.

Hear also from Irish Funds who have amended their document – Fund Governance: Liquidity Risk Management Framework.

Ross Allen, CFA, is the Head of Investment Risk for Jupiter Asset Management (Europe) Limited, the Dublin based UCITS Management Company/AIFM of Jupiter Asset Management (‘Jupiter’). Jupiter is a UK headquartered firm with assets under of management of £60bn and offers a broad range of actively managed investment strategies.

 

Prior to joining Jupiter in November 2019, Mr Allen was Designated Person for Fund Risk Management with Legal and General Investment Management (“LGIM”)’s Dublin based management company where he was responsible for managing the investment risks across a wide range of investment strategies include LDI, passive and active (both equity and fixed income, AUM ~€200bn), a position he held since July 2018.

 

Previously, Mr Allen spent 7 years with KB Associates, a third party management company in Dublin, where his focus was on risk and investment management for UCITS and AIFs. He began his career in 2003 and has held roles with HSBC, Merrill Lynch and Macquarie Securities. Mr Allen is a CFA Charterholder, a Certified Public Accountant and holds a 1st class BsC Management (Finance)from the Dublin Institute of Technology. He is a member of Irish Funds Investment Risk Committee, chairman of CFA Ireland’s Advocacy Committee and a regular speaker at industry conferences and events.

Conor Kilroy is a Regulatory Affairs Manager at Irish Funds. Since joining in September 2019, Conor has been working closely with a number of asset management based working groups and liquidity has been a focus, in particular for the Investment Risk working group. This working group has recently updated the Irish Funds Liquidity Risk Management Framework document to take account of the key areas highlighted by both ESMA and the CBI within their CSA UCITS liquidity management results.

Prior to joining Irish Funds, Conor worked as Head of Investment Servicing for DMS Governance’s MiFID entity and also worked for a number of years within their risk department. Conor began his career in fund administration working across multiple vehicle types in both the mutual and hedge funds space.

Conor is also FRM certified by the Global Association of Risk Professionals and a member of the EFAMA ManCo steering committee.

Director

Declan Curran, Director, is Head of Risk for BlackRock Asset Management Ireland (an Irish UCITS and AIF Management Company) and responsible for Regulatory Risk Oversight within the Risk and Quantitative Analysis Group in Ireland.

Declan also leads regulatory risk developments in EMEA, focusing on UCITS and AIFMD regulations.

Before joining the Fidelity International Group in 2000, held a number of positions within MeesPierson Fund Services (Dublin) Limited
