IOB welcomes Paul O’Grady BL and Patrick O'Reilly SC to speak at this online event on the revised Consumer Protection Code.

Patrick and Paul will explore the key changes introduced in the 2025 Code, the practical implications for financial service providers, and the steps firms should now be taking to ensure compliance. They will also examine how the Code now applies to a much broader cross-section of consumers than previously, alongside highlighting newly introduced obligations and their impact.

Paul O'Grady BL

Paul O'Grady is a Barrister who practices in the area of Banking, Financial Services, Property and Insolvency Law. Paul joined Bank of Ireland in 2001. During his Banking career he also worked for Ulster Bank, ACC Bank and Danske Bank. He worked in Head Office functions, Retail Banking, Business Banking and Debt Management. Paul holds an honours degree in Biotechnology from NUI Galway, the Institute of Banking's University Diploma in Financial Services. He is also a Qualified Financial Adviser. Paul tutors at the Law Society of Ireland on their Professional Practice Course. Paul is also a Fellow of the Institute of Banking.


Patrick F O'Reilly

Senior Counsel at the Bar of Ireland

Patrick O’Reilly SC specialises in financial services litigation. He has acted in many of the most significant High and Supreme Court cases concerning the responsibilities of financial services entities (e.g. Haughey v Davy, Bank of Ireland v O’Malley, PTSB v Mooney, Bank of Ireland v Murray).

He is regularly instructed to advise in Central Bank of Ireland regulatory matters. Patrick is a committee member of the Financial Services Bar Association of Ireland (FSBA). In 2024, Patrick led the FSBA’s Submission to the Central Bank of Ireland on the then draft/Consumer Protection Code.
