Risk identification and assessment is not a natural act for humans. In this programme taster lecture, Dr. Allan Kearns will discuss why accurate risk identification and assessment is so difficult for us and the organisations in which we work.

In this context, we need to rely on risk management frameworks that force us to more systematically identify risks, assess their likelihood and impact accurately, and invest to bring those risks to within appetite.

We discuss why this simple process is so challenging in an operational risk context, because the sheer variety of risks - from business continuity risk management to fraud risk to operational risks posed by the growth in fintech - multiplies the challenges facing those working in both second and first lines of defence.

The event will give you the opportunity to sample a typical lecture on our Operational Risk programme at level 9.

Professional Diploma in Advanced Operational Risk Management in Financial Services This programme will equip participants with a deep, practical understanding of operational risk management frameworks and measurement methodologies in financial institutions. This qualification is the benchmark operational risk qualification recognised in the Irish financial services industry.
