Our speaker for this event is Simone Cima who is an Economist at the Central Bank of Ireland. Simone is the recent author of the paper “Wealth Accumulation and inter-generational inequality with inverted population pyramids.” His paper highlights that demographic dynamics and the shift of population pyramids towards an inverted pyramid shape in advanced economies are leading to falling returns on wealth. In this event, Simone will take us through his research and findings and will discuss what are the effects of these dynamics on the relative wealth accumulation journeys of different generations, and their prospects at retirement.

Simone Cima

Economist in the Monetary Policy division at the Central Bank of Ireland

Simone Cima is an Economist in the Monetary Policy division at the Central Bank of Ireland, where he has covered a number of roles after a traineeship at the European Central Bank.

He is also a PhD candidate in Economics at Trinity College Dublin, where his research focusses on the role of demographics on the macroeconomy, and issues around income and wealth inequality
