We are informing all members of an important change to online payments on IOB.ie website. We’ve added an additional layer of security to our payment process as part of the EU Payment Service Directive on Strong Customer Authentication (SCA), which comes into effect in Ireland on January 1, 2021. The change will ensure your online transactions with IOB are more secure and will help to reduce fraud.
What is new?
While paying online at IOB.ie, you may encounter an extra payment authentication screen that seeks to confirm the transaction is being made with the cardholder’s knowledge. On-screen instructions will guide you through the process and it differs slightly depending on your bank.
What next?
If you receive an error message during authentication process please contact your bank to ensure your payment card is set up correctly for Strong Customer Authentication (SCA) and that no further information is needed on their side.
