New President inaugurated at IoB AGM

IOB welcomes new President. Colin Hunt

IOB is delighted to announce that Colin Hunt, Chief Executive Officer of AIB was elected President of IOB following the organisation's AGM on 2 March 2021. He is IOB’s 102nd President and takes on the role at a pivotal time for our members and learners, as we launch IOB Learn. This new personalised learning tool will support our members through transitions in financial services with career support, wellness content and an extensive suite of new learning programmes, ranging from one hour micro-learning to six week sprints., up to fully UCD accredited programmes.

Following his election Colin, said “I am delighted to be elected 102nd President of IOB. I look forward to supporting the delivery of the IOB’s strategic plan as well as its wider purpose of educating, enabling and empowering a community of professionals to deliver financial services to the highest standards, contributing to better outcomes for customers and to a thriving economy .”

In March 2019, Colin Hunt was appointed Chief Executive Officer of AIB and an Executive Director on the AIB Board. He joined AIB in August 2016 as Managing Director, Wholesale, Institutional & Corporate Banking Division. Prior to joining AIB, he was Managing Director at Macquarie Capital where he led the development of its business in Ireland. Previously, he was:

  • A Special Policy Adviser at the Departments of Transport and Finance,

  • Research Director and Chief Economist at Goodbody Stockbrokers,

  • Head of Trading Research and Senior Economist at Bank of Ireland Group Treasury, and

  • A country risk analyst at NatWest.

Colin has a PhD in Economics from Trinity College, Dublin and degrees in Commerce & Economics from University College, Cork. He served as a Non-Executive Director of Aer Lingus Group plc from 2008 to 2014. Colin is a Director of the Ireland Funds, Ireland Chapter.
