In this programme taster for the Professional Diploma in Leading Cultural Change and Ethical Behaviour in Financial Services, Dr. Wieke Scholten will discuss building a culture of trust and managing fear of retaliation in organisations related to voice behaviour (speak up) and integrity (flagging unethical conduct).

Wieke Scholten is a social & organisational psychologist with over 20 years of experience in observing, analysing and changing human behaviour in organisations.
The last 14 years she has specialised in behavioural risk management within financial services. Together with a team of organisational psychologists and statisticians Wieke supports organisations globally in managing counterproductive work behaviour and applying organisational psychology in practice to obtain better outcomes.
Her experience is across different regions such as Europe, the United Kingdom, the United States, South America and the APAC region. Wieke holds a PhD in social psychology on team climates that can elicit unethical behaviour, obtained at Leiden University in the Netherlands. Wieke has founded and led several expertise teams in the field of behavioural risk management.
She was Head of Behavioural Risk at NatWest Group Internal Audit (2016-2019), where she has set up a strategy, methodology and team operating from out of London to identify behavioural risk globally. She was Senior Supervisor of Behaviour & Culture at the Dutch Central Bank, DNB (2011-2016) where she was one of the first two psychologists hired by DNB to shape the supervision of behaviour and culture.
Additionally, she helped organisations globally to build behavioural risk capability in house, with her consultancy team as a Lead Partner Behavioural Risk at &samhoud consultancy (2019-2023). Next to her role at BR Insights, she is Managing Director Europe for Swarm Dynamics that offers technology solutions to uncover and measure culture, using AI and behavioural science.
She lectures at the Institute of Banking and Institute of Directors Ireland on topics such as ethical leadership and psychology in the boardroom. Wieke is author of the book ‘Banking on team ethics’ (2018) and several publications, including in the Harvard Business Review, the Journal of Financial Regulation and Compliance and the Journal of Risk Management in Financial Institutions
