Ireland is the only OECD country that does not yet operate an auto-enrolment or similar system as a means of promoting pension savings. This is set to change in 2024.

While a state pension can ensure that retired people maintain an income, most people require more money to guarantee a comfortable standard of living into retirement.

The Irish Government has confirmed that it is aiming for a new system, auto-enrolment, to be introduced in the second half of 2024. Auto-enrolment is designed to simplify the pensions decision for workers and make it easier for employers to offer a workplace pension. Under auto-enrolment employees will have access to a workplace pension savings scheme which is co-funded by their employer and the State.

Join IOB and Bernard Walsh for an interesting overview of:

• What auto-enrolment is;

• How it works both for employers and employees; and

• Lessons learned from the experience of auto-enrolment in other jurisdictions.

Registration for this event will close at midnight the night prior to the event or when it reaches capacity.

There is 1 CPD hour available for the following designations:

-QFA (Pensions & Life Assurance)

-APA (Pensions & Life Assurance)

-RS (Pensions & Life Assurance)
