Courses, programmes, events and supports for Credit Unions
Under The Central Bank of Ireland's regulations, the minimum competency requirements have been extended for Credit Unions and will come into effect in October 2024. As part of IOB’s ongoing support for Credit Union members, we want to help you attain a professional designation required under the Central Bank of Ireland Minimum Competency Code (MCC).
The QFA designation is the benchmark designation for advisors who work in the financial services sector, including the Credit Union movement and satisfies the Central Bank of Ireland's Minimum Competency Code.
IOB is offering six exam sittings per year for PCFA and PDFA modules, providing greater flexibility to attain the Professional Certificate in Financial Advice (APA) and the Professional Diploma in Financial Advice (QFA).
*Please note that some of these modules do not run in all intakes. For further information, please refer to the Upcoming Intakes, or click on the link below:

Emma Power (QFA, EFA), Youghal Credit Union
“I chose the QFA programme to fast track my career in Financial Services and progress into the world of Mortgages. I had a very positive learning experience, with lecturers always available to answer email queries. The online webinars were very beneficial to listen to after a full day’s work and the online exams were under a relaxed environment. I would recommend this programme to all young professionals starting out in the Financial Services industry. The job opportunities are very competitive after securing the QFA and it has helped me personally and professionally develop my career in Mortgages.”
As the remit of Credit Unions continues to evolve at pace, IOB have put together a suite of Short Courses, UCD Awarded Programmes, and events designed to ensure staff at all levels are adequately skilled and accredited, while also providing a unique pathway to specialist and leadership roles within Financial Services.
